The southern Costa Blanca is
well served by two airports, El Altet, a few kilometres to the south of
Alicante, and San Javier, just across the provincial border in Murcia. Both
offer domestic flights to all parts of Spain.
El Altet is the favoured destination for package tour operators
taking holidaymakers to the resorts of the northern Costa Blanca, so there are
numerous cheap charter flights from Northern Europe. Extra seats on these
flights are sold at often amazingly cheap prices. You can enjoy the benefits of
quick, frequent and inexpensive flights to your own country, but as soon as you
leave the airport you can escape the package holiday herd. Only 2 and a half
hours from England, or 3 hours from Scotland or Scandinavia, the Mediterranean
sun is waiting for you.
San Javier
offers regular scheduled flights to London Gatwick and a number of other
European destinations.
